How to convert a salary to an hourly rate
Divide the yearly salary by 52, then by the hours worked per week. $45,000 a year at 40 hours a week is 45,000 ÷ 52 ÷ 40 = $21.63 an hour. If the job is 35 hours a week, the same salary is $24.73 an hour.
Biweekly vs semimonthly pay
Biweekly means every two weeks: 26 paychecks a year, and two months a year have three paydays. Semimonthly means twice a month, often on the 15th and the last day: 24 paychecks a year. On the same salary, each semimonthly check is a little bigger than a biweekly one.
What a raise is worth

This is gross pay, not take-home pay
Every figure here is gross pay, before federal, state and local taxes, Social Security, Medicare and other deductions. Take-home pay depends on where the employee lives and their tax situation, so this calculator doesn’t estimate it. See gross vs net for how the two differ, and use the time card calculator to turn hours worked into gross pay.
